About the Team

Joining our Speech-language Therapy team will be an exciting experience.  Our unit is innovative and progressive.  While you will be based in either Dunedin or Southland Hospital, you will also be part of the wider Speech-language team at the hospital and of the Southern DHB. 


You will work in Speech-language Therapy and Multi-disciplinary teams that are dynamic and supportive with an enviable mix of skill, knowledge and clinical experience.  The Speech-language Therapy team at Southern DHB is committed to delivering a high standard of service to our patients.  As part of our team you will have the opportunity to access regular supervision, professional development and peer support. 


About You

Applicants must hold a degree in Speech-language Therapy and be registered member of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapy Association (NZSTA) with a current Annual Practising Certificate with the NZSTA. 

Previous experience working in an Inpatient environment would be advantageous.


It is essential that you are self-motivated with a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to your professional development and personal growth.  You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to be flexible as an active participant within both the Speech-language Therapy (SLT) and wider Therapies team.


Ideally, you will bring to us at least 3-5 years’ experience. This is a role for someone with experience and enthusiasm for Speech-language Therapy who can manage their caseload while supporting the growth of other therapists. We are looking for an experienced Speech-language Therapist who enjoys working with an established team, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is driven and proactive in their ongoing development of advanced skills.
