Our Emergency Department is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the team on a part-time basis until March 2025.  If you are looking for an opportunity to challenge yourself in a fast-paced environment that every day provides a diverse range of care to patients from across one of the largest geographical catchments in New Zealand, then look no further.

 

About the Service

Our Emergency Department provides care for approximately 38,500 attendances every year. We have dedicated full patient resuscitation, specialised triage, rapid assessment, acute, sub-acute and paediatric areas. Our department carries out all acute care, including full patient resuscitation facilities, management of trauma, fractures, injuries etc. The ED’s vision is to be a centre of clinical care and customer service excellence. We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork.  

 

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse wanting to develop their skills in the area of emergency department nursing.  We offer a number of educational opportunities including: a comprehensive orientation programme; on-going development in emergency nursing skills e.g. Trauma Nursing Core Course, Triage Course, and Advanced Life Support and there are opportunities for ED specific post-graduate study via SIT. There are also ample opportunities for motivated employees to develop and further their careers within this service.

We’re looking for a nurse who is experienced and organised, friendly and calm, able to work independently and at the same time genuinely interested in the best outcome for both patient and team.

  • Must have current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
  • Previous ED/acute experience is essential, and you must have at least 1 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.

This role belongs to the DHB/NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 2 ($81,863 p.a. pro-rata) and Step 7 ($106,739 p.a. pro-rata) Registered Nurses Salary Scale.
