About the opportunity

We haves an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Management professional to join their team as the Projects and Design Manager.


An integral role in the initial inception through to completion of various key construction projects, this role calls for an organised, knowledgeable individual who is committed to the delivery of projects on time, and within the fiscal constraints of the DHB environment. This role is not for the light-hearted, but the reward of seeing out challenges and handing over completed projects to both the community and colleagues we can promise will be well worth your hard work. This role leads a team responsible for approximately 300 capital projects per year from $2,000 to $10 million and involves travel throughout the Southern region to oversee various projects in Otago, Southland and the Queenstown Lakes District.


About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant qualification in a trade, project management or construction management
  • Experience in Capital Projects
  • Knowledge of hospital infrastructure would be beneficial
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety
  • Experience in assisting a large organisation with capital planning and budgeting
  • Excellent aptitude for problem solving


In addition to practical skills, you will be a strong leader and expert relationship builder; this role will see you liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, and these relationships will be key to the success of the deliverables in your role.


You will lead by example, and in a way so as to ensure the success of all minor and major capital projects across the Southern DHB. As this role has direct reports, you will also show commitment to the ongoing development of your team.
