About the Role
Planned care includes all aspects of non-acute care involved in a patient’s journey through the health system, and includes care delivered in rural and primary care settings as well as hospital based. The Planned Care team provides leadership and support to communicate, implement and monitor delivery of the planned care objectives set out by Health NZ.
In this seconded role your key goal will be to support process improvement in our outpatient services. You will work alongside the planned care team and your tasks will include the creation, communication and implementation of standard operating procedures for services across the district. You will also support Southern’s objective to improve data entry accuracy and across all services.

Some of your key focus areas will be:
- leading initiatives and working with managers, clinicians, front line administration staff, and the reporting team to achieve outpatient process improvement
- leading initiatives that improve the monitoring of outpatient delivery and reduc the number of data errors
- Identifying areas of risk to patients and the organisation and lead process change that reduces this risk
About the Team/Service/ Location
The team consists of the Planned Care District Manager, the Business Analyst Capacity and Demand, the Production Planning Coordinator Inpatients, and the Planned Care Coordinator Outpatients.
The key purpose of the Planned Care Coordinator secondment role is to improve processes and efficiency of our outpatient services
About you
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced user of SIPICS who is looking for a new challenge in their career:
- Experience of process improvement
- Skilled in use of word processing and excel preadsheets,
- Team leadership experience
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders
- Highly focused/results orientated
- Takes a positive and inclusive approach to problem solving
- Experience in working with SIPICS referral and outpatient booking systems,
Salary range
This role is covered by the PSA Health Administration Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 7 between step 1 ($81,226) and step 7 ($95,383) p.a dependant on relevant experience.
