Mō te tūranga | About the role

 

Due to expansion of the services and secondments of some of our staff to various roles we have an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist with experience in cardiorespiratory or keen interest developing skills in this area to join our inpatient Allied Health team at Dunedin Hospital.

 

Our cardiorespiratory team covers the following: Wards- surgical (including upper GI, Urology, Colorectal and Plastics) Vascular, Respiratory, Cardiothoracics Renal, Intensive/Critical care,  High-dependency unit, Surgical High Acuity Unit, CCU,  paediatric ward, and maternity ward, but from time to time may be required to cover other inpatient settings as required.

 

Dunedin Hospital is a tertiary care facility incorporating cardiothoracic, respiratory and trauma specialities. Our world-class intensive care unit (Te puna wai ora - Southern Critical Care) is enabling new opportunities for evidence-informed physiotherapy care, including an ECMO service.  We take pride in supporting our staff to grow as clinicians, so we run an ongoing support and professional development programme including regular team in-services, senior staff mentoring and peer review, a comprehensive on-call competency training framework, and access to course and conference funding. Our staff are also part of the Otago Simulation group and provide simulation training resources and programmes to enhance education opportunities, both within the physiotherapy department and wider interdisciplinary teams.

 

Please note this role requires you to participate in weekend and on-call rosters therefore flexibility is essential.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have the drive to develop quality services in collaboration with others while working alongside a committed inter-professional team of health professionals.

 

Ideal candidate will be in their 3rd year of experience, have interest in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and be able to work autonomously or with minimum support in a variety of inpatient settings including surgical and respiratory wards, and intensive/critical/high-dependency care and High Acuity area.   

 

You will be proficient at managing and prioritising a caseload within the inpatient setting. Show dedication to developing your own skills while supporting the growth of students, Physiotherapy staff and the Allied Health Assistant workforce.

 

You will need to be adaptable and flexible allowing you to work effectively with your clients and within a changing health environment.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 3 ($86,045 p.a) and Step 7 ($107,600 p.a pro rata) of the Degree-Based Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
