  • Southland Hospital, Permanent part time 0.7 FTE
  • Salary between $60,100 - $70,358 per annum pro rata
  • Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5 :00 pm

About the Role

The Outpatient Assistant role will see you assisting our multidisciplinary team with patient cares to ensure efficient and effective functioning for patients and staff in our Outpatients department. Our Outpatient Assistants are an integral part of our health care team, working alongside and under the direct of Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to care for our patients.

The role involves, but is not limited to:

  • Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
  • Patient supervision and/or movement
  • Chaperoning medical staff in clinics
  • Stock reconciliation
  • Note preparation for clinics
  • Cleaning of instruments and scopes
  • Cleaning of the departmental rooms

 

Please note this role involves minimal patient contact.

About you

As indicated above, this is a physically demanding role, e.g. transferring of patients, and you will spend a lot of time on your feet and on the move, therefore a degree of physical fitness is essential. The team is supportive and friendly, and the opportunity to gain great job satisfaction is huge if you enjoy working at a fast pace. 

 

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with previous health care experience or a desire to enter the industry, and from those who are dynamic, friendly and can demonstrate a high level of initiative. You will be committed to high standards of practice, be well organised and have excellent communication skills.

 

It is important that candidates are motivated, flexible, have a level of maturity about them and of course plenty of enthusiasm. Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether than experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or family members.
