Mō te tūranga | About the role

We are looking for a casual Ophthalmic Photographer to join the Ophthalmology Outpatient Department here at Dunedin Hospital on a ‘as an when required’ basis.

 

The primary responsibility of the position is to provide photographic and technical support, as well as associated administrative services for the Ophthalmology Department.

Mōu ake | About you

To be successful in this role you will: -

 

  • Have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Be open to new ways of working to provide patients with the most efficient and effective service.
  • Hold a full, clean Drivers Licence.
  • Hold a Level 4 certificate in Digital Photography (or higher) or be working towards this.
    • Previous experience in an ophthalmic or clinical setting preferred.
    • Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and procedures.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient care.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Perform diagnostic tests, including visual field tests, OCT, and fundus photography.
    • Administer eye medications, conduct eye measurements, and blood pressure checks.
    • Provide patient education on pre- and post-operative care.
    • Record and manage patient medical histories and examination results.
    • Be flexible in your availability as some occasional weekend work may be required including overnight travel to our rural centres from time to time.

Utu whānui | Salary range

This role belongs to the DHB/PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective Agreement and falls between Steps 1 ($72,074 p.a. pro-rata) and Step 7 ($86,719 p.a. pro-rata) of the Non-Degree Technical Scale.
