Mō mātou | About us
The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin with stunning views of the city and ocean. The IDS comprises of three parts, Ward 10a – a 12 bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage – a 4 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison Team.

 

Ward 10a is a medium secure 12 bed inpatient service for Intellectually Disabled clients, aged 17 to 65 years, who require assessment and treatment under the Mental Health Act or are subject to the criminal justice system via the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act 2003.

 

Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Provide occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Deliver safe client focused care in an ever-changing dynamic setting
  • Be actively involved in individual and group therapy programmes.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate activity programmes for our diverse client group.
  • Work alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting.

  • Be a registered Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the DHBs/PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($77,087 p.a) and Step 8 ($107,600 p.a pro rata) of the Degree-based Allied, Public Health and Technical Salary scale.
