Occupational Therapist –Rehabilitation team Dunedin, multiple options

 

  • 1.0 FTE Fixed term to cover maternity leave
  • Also Permanent position 1.0 FTE
  • Monday to Friday

 

Salary - $74,000 - $104,000 + Kiwisaver

 Mō te tūranga | About the role

 

Rehabilitation within Dunedin includes two community teams triaged by age (< 65 and > 65)  and two rehabilitation wards again largely divided by age.  The wider rehabilitation team are a focused patient team that strive to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. 

 

These roles are with the older community rehabilitation team, EDRS.  This is a a dynamic and evolving community interdisciplinary team, you will be part of an experienced supportive team, planning and providing intensive rehabilitation to our diverse patients within their own homes and transitional care.  We have recently taken on a new ACC contract and are now seeing orthopaedic patients that would benefit from rehabilitation in the community to improve outcomes and avoid readmission.  This has been an exciting process and satisfying client group to work with.

 

We take pride in supporting our staff to grow and we enable ongoing professional development including regular team in-services, senior staff mentoring and peer review and access to course and conference funding.  We support student education throughout clinical placements. You will be part of the wider rehabilitation services so there are always opportunities for cover/secondments or experience in other areas if this is part of your professional development plan.

 

You'll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise in the wonders of rehabilitation with medical, orthopaedic and neurological conditions including but not limited to stroke, parkinsons, decline in cognitive function. You will also have the opportunity to support, teach and upskill students.  Rehabilitation is the area where you can get to know your patients work on specific goals and see lifechanging outcomes within a specific time period

Mōu ake | About you

Ideally you bring a minimum of 3 years occupational therapy experience that includes working in a rehabilitation setting with patients with stroke, neurological conditions and the frail elderly. Experience with orthopaedic conditions is also an advantage as is level 1 wheelchair accreditation. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of optimising patient outcomes and facilitating effective discharge planning, using a patient centred and evidence based approach to goal setting and intervention. You will build excellent relationships between inpatients and the community.

 

In addition you will have enthusiasm and a willingness to commit to our team and patients. You will be expected to be active in service quality initiatives, therefore be proactive, innovative and have a quality driven leadership approach.

 

For this permanent role covering the service, you will need to be a New Zealand registered occupational therapist with a current annual practising certificate.

Utu whānui | Salary range

This role belongs to the Allied, Public Health, Scientific, and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement  and falls between Step 1 ($74,842 p.a) and Step 7 ($104,466 p.a).
