Salary - $74,842 - $104,466 + Kiwisaver

Our Child Development Service (Vera Hayward Centre) is based at Dunedin Hospital which is centrally located in Dunedin City.  We have a permanent position available for a NZ registered Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with children aged 0-16 years and their families/whanau. This is a part time role, 20 hours per week, with some flexibility regarding the hours you can work, and we are very excited to have an enthusiastic candidate join us in this role permanently.

 

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We are a team of experienced Allied Health therapists who enjoy working with and improving the lives of children and their families living in the Coastal Otago region. With our service focus being on the child and whanau we work in both the centre and community settings, as such you will need to be able to work flexibly. You will need to hold registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and a current APC and NZ full Drivers Licence allowing you to travel, when necessary, to our children and whanau.

It goes without saying that our Occupational Therapists work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Therapy team in our Child Development Service and wider Children’s Health team. In this role you will carry out developmental assessments and interventions with children under 16 years of age who have a physical, sensory, or intellectual disability or developmental delay.

Ideally you will bring previous experience in Paediatrics/Child Development, and specifically in Wheelchair/Seating and housing modification. You will need excellent communication skills to enable you to liaise with hospital specialists, children and their families, education services and to build strong links within the wider allied health team.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to use your clinical reasoning skills, excellent time management, communication and problem-solving skills in an outpatient clinic or community setting.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($74,842 p.a) and Step 10 ($104,466 p.a) pro rata) of the Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
