Do you have a positive/can do outlook, a genuine interest and previous experience working with clients with Alcohol and other Drug issues? Then come and join our collaborative and friendly team at the Specialist Addiction Service, where you’ll be working in a mental health and addictions team, based in Invercargill, servicing a large diverse region.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As part of this dedicated team you’ll have your own case load of clients with addiction related issues including Opioid Substitution Treatment, meaning your days will be busy and varied. You’ll have regular contact with other DHB Mental Health Services, and external NGO’s, so you must be an excellent communicator who is adept at interacting with your clients, colleagues and external organisations, always striving to ensure the best results, with a holistic wraparound approach.

You will bring to this role
- a solid understanding of addiction issues
- experience in working with clients with co-existing-problems (CEP) and;
- you’ll be able to demonstrate strength in screening, assessment, brief intervention, and clear decision making skills.
It is desirable that you have had past experience in the field of addictions and hold appropriate AOD qualifications. You’ll be an innovative thinker who can look for the opportunities to further develop the role. It goes without saying you will be a Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with a current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate. A full NZ driver’s licence is also required.
