The Inpatient Mental Health Unit is a purpose-built modern facility where care is provided by a multidisciplinary team with a broad background of experience.  We work in close partnership with community teams, allied health care professionals and local education providers to facilitate a working environment that is supportive, challenging and reflects evidence of ongoing professional growth whilst meeting the needs of a diverse population with mental illness.

Mōu ake | About you

Our Mental Health Assistants are key members who assist and support our nursing and allied health staff to ensure an effective and efficient service in the Inpatient Mental Health Unit.  You’ll need a positive attitude and very good communication skills, be able to take direction and work well as part of team. 

 

You will be confident in providing support and assisting patients; be motivated, display initiative, be patient focussed at all times and be able to adapt to a changing, and at times challenging, environment. 

 

Computer literacy is essential and experience working with people in the health sector is an advantage, it would also be desirable to have an understanding / knowledge of Te Reo Maori.

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the Te Whatu Ora/NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($60,100 p.a. pro-rata) and Step 5 ($70,358) p.a. pro-rata of the Mental Health Assistants Salary Scale.
