Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Hospital small enough to give you hands-on specialist-led experience, yet big enough to learn through an internationally renowned research partnership, your career opportunities are limitless.
  • Working in a close-knit team, you will have excellent access to your Registrar & Consultant, and unrivalled opportunities to experience many of the varied presentations to the hospital. 
  • You will be exposed to a number of medical situations that will equip you well for future training Registrar roles.   
  • You will have continued support in your professional development through 24/7 access to the library, weekly teaching and Grand Rounds, journal clubs, and regular RMO forums.

 

Following that and depending on your interest, we have a number of runs available for you to work in.  These include:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • General Medicine
  • Psychiatry
  • AT&R
  • Relievers
  • ED (6 month run)
  • Paediatrics (6 month run)
  • O&G (6 month run)

If your interest lies in the specialties that are 6 months in length, please indicate your preferences in your cover letter.   If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you are applying for a general role.

 

 Mōu ake | About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.  You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council’s website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience

It is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. Utu whānui |Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors’ Association & 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 17 May 2021 – 31 March 2024 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 – 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $71,493 - $159,620 dependant on relevant experience.
