Mō te tūranga | About the role
Reporting to the Security Service Manager, no two shifts in this role will be the same - you'll need to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure and show compassion and empathy in times of distress. Previous security experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate, and training leading to nationally recognised security qualifications will be provided.
Our primary role is ‘Healthcare’ – Looking after our patients.
Secondary to that is ‘Security’ – Keeping everyone safe.
As part of our busy security team, you will be involved in a number of different duties such as:
- routine patrols
- report writing
- welfare checks
- diffusing tense situations before they escalate
- ensuring the overall security of our people and buildings

You will be a peacemaker, a confident communicator and display kindness and helpfulness while remaining firm and alert. You will have experience working with people from all walks of life, be non- judgemental and have a good level of physical fitness.

Our Healthcare Security Officers work on a rostered basis 7 days a week, so you will need to have the flexibility to cover a variety of shifts.

Utu whānui | Salary range
This role belongs to the Etū Multi Collective Employer Agreement, Designated Security Officer Scale and falls between Step 1 ($28.40ph) and Step 5 ($31.93ph).
