Salary Band B – $142,813 - $218,670 + Kiwisaver

About the Role
You will provide acute and elective surgical care, with the opportunity to work across a range of surgery specialties within General Surgery such as Breast, Colorectal, Bariatric, and benign UGI. There may also be the opportunity for a 6–12-month Urology attachment for successful applicants interested in pursuing this field.
Registrars receive excellent support and opportunities for both technical surgical skills and management of a very broad range of surgical pathology.
This role belongs to the New Zealand Resident Doctors’ Association and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ) and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement
About the Team/Service/ Location
Opportunity to be part of a close-knit team of ten Consultants and eight Registrars (including two Urologists and one Urology Registrar).
There is one Registrar on call with a dedicated on-call SMO lending itself to a supportive structured learning environment in acute care. There is also a very broad and stimulating elective caseload. Our Registrars are well supported in attending courses relevant to their career goals.

About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council’s website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience, and a keen interest in providing acute and elective surgical care to our community
It is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
