Fixed Term - Administrator

  • Lakes District Hospital, Part time 32 hours per week
  • Fixed term until 01 March 2026
  • Salary between $70,970 - $73,941 per annum pro rata

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.

About the Role

Lakes District Hospital is a busy facility, with an emergency department, general ward, radiology, maternity and outpatient departments.

Located in the hub of clinical administration, this busy and varied role will often challenge your organisational skills with competing deadlines and conflicting priorities.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Management of patient records for the emergency department and general ward
  • Processing of ACC forms and other documentation
  • Providing effective reception services – answering incoming calls, welcoming visitors to the Service
  • Supporting the wider service with administration tasks

About the Team/Service/ Location

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities. We take pride in all the services we provide, and our aim is to improve, promote and protect the health of our region. We believe that our dedicated and passionate staff are a significant driving force behind the achievement of these standards, and we need more like-minded people to help us continue providing for our community.

About you

As part of the administration team, you will form part of the front line so your friendly, welcoming, resilient nature will be appreciated. You’ll be a positive communicator – both written and verbal and be competent in MS Office Suite. Experience using database systems and/or the ability to quickly pick these up is essential as you’ll be working with these on a daily basis. A background in medical administration would be ideal but not essential. You’ll have a mature outlook, excellent relationship management skills and function well under the pressure that often occurs when dealing with the public in a health environment.

Some people find this kind of role challenging – but not you. You thrive on the pace and the challenge.  In return, for the right person, we offer a supportive and friendly team, competitive remuneration and above all an excellent opportunity for fulfilling, part-time work.
