As a Critical Care Physiotherapist, you will specialize in delivering expert respiratory and physical therapy to patients in critical care units, addressing challenges such as ventilator management, respiratory distress, and physical deconditioning. Your pivotal role will involve optimizing lung function, improving mobility, and fostering overall functional recovery for critically ill patients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on advanced respiratory support within the critical care unit.
  • Provide comprehensive support across inpatient wards, working with diverse age groups and treating conditions such as stroke, orthopaedic surgery, general medicine, and oncology at Southland Hospital.
  • Work effectively and autonomously in a dynamic, fast-paced ward environment.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of optimizing patient outcomes and facilitating effective discharge in the acute setting.

  • Enthusiastic team-player who is keen to grow their knowledge and skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach towards learning.
  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and holding a current APC.
  • At least 5 years of experience with advanced skills in respiratory support

Utu whānui |Salary range

This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 5 (97,246 p.a pro rata) and Step 10 ($113,000 p.a pro rata) of the Degree-Based Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
