About the Service
Te Whatu Ora – Southern offers a comprehensive range of Gastroenterology services in both of our main hospitals, located in Dunedin and Invercargill, as well as outpatient clinics in other areas of the district. Even though this role is based in Southland, consideration would be given to a candidate who wishes to be based in Dunedin; however, this would still require travel to Invercargill.

In this role, you will participate in a 1:4 on-call roster and provide a full range of Gastroenterology services alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues.  Planning is currently underway to re-develop facilities and expand the department so there will be opportunities to contribute to this development. There are also unlimited possibilities for laboratory and clinical based research and there is plenty of scope for collaboration with like-minded researchers. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have enthusiasm for teaching and be a team player with a commitment to improving and developing service delivery quality.

Dunedin is a vibrant university town and a great place to live and work. Dunedin Hospital has 350 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 180,000 while Southland Hospital, in Invercargill has 180 beds and provides care for a population of approximately 100,000.
