Southland Hospital

  • Permanent opportunities
  • 1 FTE (40 hours per week)
  • Join our multidisciplinary team!

If you are a self-starter with a can do attitude who enjoys an action packed environment and is capable of performing a physically demanding role, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Here in Southland Hospital’s Perioperative department, we are on the look-out for dedicated individuals to join us as Theatre Suite Assistants on a permanent basis.

About the Role

In this important role you’ll help with a range of tasks including:

  • Restocking and setting up of equipment
  • Patient handling and transfers
  • Transporting specimens and blood
  • Cleaning of department and communal facilities daily
  • Answering phones, and much more!

The Perioperative department operates Monday to Sunday. Your contribution to the unit will ensure that operations run to schedule and are well prepared so that our surgeons and clinical staff are able to perform their magic. The Theatre Suite Assistants are on rostered shifts Monday through Sunday with an additional on-call component.

About You

As noted above this is a physically demanding role, e.g. relocating beds/manual handling of patients, and as the role title implies, you’ll spend a portion of your time in the operating theatre. It is therefore imperative that you have a reasonable level of mobility and fitness. The team is supportive and friendly, and the opportunity to gain great job satisfaction is huge if you enjoy working at a fast pace and under pressure.

This position would suit someone (but is not restricted to) with existing hospital experience, however we’re happy to look wider.  Being computer literate is preferred, and full training of our systems will be given. Please let us know in your cover letter the FTE you would like to be considered for.
