The Physiotherapy Department at Southland Hospital are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who is keen to grow their clinical and professional skills in the Inpatient Acute Medical and Surgical environments. 


The Team and Service

We have a wonderful team making the service a supported environment. We focus on career development and will be eager to give team members the opportunity to develop different skills in our various clinical areas; areas including; acute inpatient services (medical, surgical and orthopaedics), rehabilitation inpatients (AT&R), musculoskeletal and general outpatients (including hydrotherapy and groups), and community. Career development plans will include specialist support from the wider team across the region.  We take pride in supporting our staff to grow as clinicians, so we run a well-developed on-going support and professional development programme. 


The Inpatient Physiotherapy role involves working with a wide range of patients including elective and trauma orthopaedics, surgery, stroke and cardiac presentations. You will be part of our team of experienced and junior physiotherapists.The position is in our Acute inpatient wards and involves participation in our weekend and on-call services.


About you

We seek a clinician who is able to work autonomously in a variety of inpatient settings. You will be proficient at managing and prioritising a caseload within the inpatient setting and show dedication to developing your own skills while supporting the growth of students, junior staff and the Allied Health Assistant workforce.


You will have the drive to develop quality services in collaboration with others while working alongside a committed inter-professional team of health professionals. A motivated and enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


We seek a clinician with a minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience who is looking to further their career in the field of Acute presentations, including the Emergency Department. You must be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand in accordance with the HPCA Act 2004 and possess a current Practising Certificate.
