Mō te tūranga | About the role

Our programme is designed to facilitate the smooth transition from student to practising midwife.

 

We aim to assist you in further developing your clinical practice and critical thinking skills with a programme and environment that supports your individual needs including providing a nominated preceptor to support your entry into the profession.

 

Our programme is a comprehensive 54 week program, 32 hours (0.8FTE) per week with the flexibility of 0.6FTE being considered.

 

As a new graduate in your Midwifery First Year of Practice, you will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Antenatal care
  • Labour and birth: Provide primary / secondary / tertiary labour care plus theatre and post anaesthetic care.
  • Postnatal care, spend valuable time with Lactation Consultant and Special Care Baby Unit as option

 

Our supportive teams nurture new graduates, we provide a comprehensive orientation and work closely with Otago University and Te Pūkenga - education in our clinical areas is further enabled by our Midwifery Educators, Clinical Coaches and Clinical Midwife Managers.

 

Successful applicants will begin their role anytime from January 2024.

Utu whānui | Salary range

This role falls under the terms and conditions of the expired DHBs / MERAS Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (1 February 2021 - 30 April 2023), and the salary will be in accordance with the Midwifery Pay Equity Settlement Agreement, Registered (Core) Midwife Step 2 ($76,235) p.a pro rata.
