Unit Manager - Sterile Services

Salary Band – from $90,534 p.a prorata + Kiwisaver

 

  • 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)

 

We are seeking applications for an experienced team leader with a positive attitude to fill an upcoming vacancy in Sterile Services.

 

Mō te tūranga | About the role

Sterile Services provides instrument and medical equipment cleaning and sterilisation services to Dunedin hospital services and some external clients. This leadership role is key to ensure the Sterile Services team are enabled to continue delivery of quality sterilisation practices that meet the needs of customers, patients, and service requirements.  This is an exciting time to lead this close-knit team as they continue to provide the current service, with oversight over staff training and continuous quality improvements required. In addition, this is an opportunity to make your mark with transformational change associated with facility redevelopment and your expertise to inform planning for the New Dunedin Hospital Sterile Services Unit. 

 

Mōu ake | About you

The applicant will have a Diploma in Sterilising Technology and a Diploma in Advanced Sterilising Technology.

Key criteria that we’re looking for include:

  • experience in leading and managing staff
  • a commitment to supporting and fostering teamwork
  • having an overall proactive and positive leadership and management style 
  • an understanding of and ability to manage and oversee budgets
  • being methodical and remaining calm under pressure
  • problem solving skills
  • being a confident communicator who is able to build and maintain positive working relationships with clinical and facilities colleagues, and also maintain positive external links advocacy for continuous quality improvement and sustainable practices

This role belongs to the PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective Agreement from Step 10 ($90,534 p.a)
