House Officers PGY2+ (Dunedin)
Life in NZ is paradise. Life in Southern New Zealand is even better.
With hospitals small enough to give you hands-on specialist-led experience, yet big enough to learn through an internationally-renowned research partnership, your career opportunities are limitless. We’re looking for Doctors who want to level up, grow their areas of interest, and work with specialists who know their name.
Life outside of the hospital is just as opportunity-filled – there’s always an adventure waiting for you at the end of your shift. We’re surrounded by the dream combination of mountains, beaches and snow. In the city the activities are just as varied – being a student region there’s always something going on. This combination plus the lack of commute makes for a fantastic work life balance here.
We have a number of opportunities available for House Officers who are seeking a Southern lifestyle. You will have a minimum of one year post graduate medical experience in and be eligible for, or already hold, registration with Medical Council of NZ.
Teaching and training is important to us here in Dunedin and that is why our RMOs have a protected session every week. In addition, there are a number of other regular activities that House Officers can join in on. Whether it is the regular House Officer Education sessions or the journal clubs, X-ray meetings or rounds from the various services; there is always something happening.
Depending on your interest, we have a number of runs available for you to work in. These include:
Medical Oncology |
ENT |
Gastroenterology |

|
While the above runs are available each quarter, we also have several 6 month runs available as well. If your interest lies in these specialties, please indicate your preferences in your cover letter. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you are applying for a general role. The runs are:
- ED
- O&G
- Paediatrics
Note that 6 months runs will occur November to May and May to November.
All internal Dunedin Hospital applicants, please contact the RMO Unit directly.
