Clinical Subject Matter Expert - Digital Transformation

Clinical Subject Matter Expert – Digital Transformation

Dunedin Public Hospital, Dunedin

  • Fixed term position for 12 months (flexible hours, minimum 0.5 FTE)
  • Potential secondment opportunity
  • Get in on the action as we prepare for a new hospital and digital transformation of our health system

About the opportunity

Digital transformation is an important enabler of, and contributor to, the establishment of the new Dunedin Hospital and transformation of the entire southern health system.  Our new hospital will be a digitally-enabled facility and support new and emerging technologies that improve patient and staff experience.  Although the new Dunedin Hospital will reuse and extend some existing ICT systems from the current facility, the new facility is also a catalyst for innovation and implementation of new and enhanced health systems and technologies across the district.

This Clinical SME role is a key position as we move into the detailed business case and design phase. You will ensure the clinical voice is heard, have oversight and liaison to bridge IT with clinical areas, establishing awareness and buy in from clinicians to the development of clinical IT systems for the new Dunedin Hospital.

In addition, this is an opportunity to enable us to plan for a smart hospital and to further develop Southern District Health Board’s IT policy conjointly with existing Clinical Directors in support of the ICT digital blueprint for the whole Southern health system.

About you

In addition to their clinical experience, our ideal applicant will come along with innovative ideas, a results-orientation and commitment to get stuck in and drive for results.

You will be part of a team working towards a common goal so the ability to collaborate within and externally to the team with key stakeholders will be essential.  You should ideally have experience in a similar role in early-stage planning of ICT projects or programmes and be ready to roll up your sleeves and be the voice of our clinicians.

You are a networker, collaborator, and problem solver.  You understand how to advocate for others at all levels to enable the achievement of common objectives.  As a communicator you are calm, articulate and credible and are familiar with the Southern health ecosystem and know how to get buy in and get things done with divergent groups and stakeholders.  For a full spec, please review the position description.
