About us

The Clinical Records team at Dunedin Public Hospital play a vital role behind the scenes. We ensure that health records are accurately stored, maintained and available quickly when needed. We are a friendly and supportive team who work hard and like to have some fun along the way.


About the opportunity

  • Full time fixed term contract for 12 months
  • Get away from the desk in this active administration role
  • Provide a vital service to patients, families / whanau and health professionals


This fast-paced role has a strong focus on records and information management including paper patient records, use of electronic systems and interactions with health professionals both internal and external to the Southern DHB. This specific role will be processing data and responding to requests for information relating to mental health records required in relation to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in State Care and Faith-based institutions.


We are looking for a reliable, positive, dynamic person to join our team working Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm on a fixed term basis for a period of 12 months. Upon starting, you will receive comprehensive training to support your development and ensure you are comfortable and confident with the tasks and responsibilities of the role.


About you

You will have a proven ability to deal with confidential/sensitive information, strong communication skills (spoken and written) and be a reliable and enthusiastic team player with the ability to multitask.


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Strong attention to detail at all times
  • A positive, can-do/problem solving attitude
  • Relevant administrative work experience
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology would be a bonus


The salary for this position is between $49,394 and $51,240 per annum for full time as per the DHBs/Public Service Association Collective Agreement and taking into account the PSA Clerical and Administrative Staff Pay Equity Interim Adjustment made by the Southern DHB on 16 April 2021. Starting salary will be based on relevant experience and qualifications.
